This verdict is a reminder not to count on the courts to stop the rise of fascism. This is only the first of several trials in the case.

This case is intended to set a precedent enabling the government to suppress resistance of all kinds. Yet this outcome must not discourage us from fighting as hard as we can against them.

On the contrary, it should drive home the stakes of the fight.⁩ If we lose, no one will be safe, no matter how obedient and passive. Let's fight them with everything we've got while there is still a chance of victory.

Lebanon: “History Is Repeating Itself”

Israeli airstrikes are pummeling Lebanon, driving over 800,000 people from their homes.

From February 25 to March 1, the Twin Cities hosted hundreds of people who traveled to Minnesota to take part in the Melt the ICE week of action.

Several events took place daily—including marches, blockades, noise demos, speaking events, and trainings. These actions and workshops served to bolster the resistance to the ICE occupation in Minnesota and to teach activists from all over the country how to export the Twin Cities’ rapid response model to their hometowns.

The fight against ICE continues.

Tomorrow is March 8, International Women's Day.

In 1910, Clara Zetkin proposed this event at an international women’s conference at Folkets Hus, headquarters of the Danish labor movement.

That building later became the historic autonomous social center Ungdomshuset—famously evicted and reduced to rubble in one of the biggest Danish police operations since the Second World War on March 1, 2007. The occupiers relentlessly pressured the government until it was forced to turn over another building for their use.

The cycles of resistance continue.

The latest polls shows that less than 40% of people are convinced that ICE should exist at all.

The disparity between the number of politicians calling to abolish ICE and the proportion of the population that is clamoring to abolish ICE aptly illustrates the fundamentally reactionary character of political representatives as a class.

Change is going to have to come from us, from grassroots initiatives and direct action.

Melt the ICE: The Fight Continues

On March 1, demonstrators converged on the Federal Building outside the Twin Cities, temporarily blockading ICE inside it.

On one side of the building, fifty people established a shield wall. Sheriffs attacked immediately, but they held their ground for almost an hour.

At least 400 people marched on the other side of the federal building to demand that ICE withdraw from Minnesota and return the land that Fort Snelling occupies to the Dakota people. Many Native people participated in the march, including members of the Dakota, Ojibwe, and Chippewa tribes.

Even after the withdrawal of thousands of ICE agents from the Twin Cities, more than 400 remain—an unprecedented number before the surge of federal mercenaries into the city two months ago.

Thankfully, people are not finished fighting ICE.

Donald Trump is replacing Kristi Noem, who was head of the Department of Homeland Security until a few minutes ago.

In short, Kristi Noem has not succeeded in achieving dictatorial control of the population of the US via DHS. Trump is trying a new strategy aimed at the same goal.

This shows that the day-to-day resistance to ICE has prevented them from achieving their chief objective. They aimed to normalize the violence of federal mercenaries as an accepted part of daily life. So far, they have failed.

Thanks to the brave people of the Twin Cities and everyone all around the country who is fighting back.

This fight is far from over.

Trump's kidnapping of Nicolás Maduro did nothing to change the distribution of power in Venezuela. It only put the pieces in place to loot the country of its natural resources for the benefit of elements of the US ruling class. The attack on Iran is meant to do the same.

For the Israeli government, the entire Mideast is now the West Bank. The attack on Iran shows that they are determined to subject hundreds of millions to the violence they have already been inflicting on Palestinian, Lebanese, and Syrian people.

In the US, Trump’s decision to declare war without consulting Congress shows that he already understands himself as a dictator. The attack on Iranians is meant to strike terror into Trump’s foes all around the world, including in the United States.

The same weapons Trump and Netanyahu use against Iranians today will be turned on anyone who resists them tomorrow—unless we stand up to them together.

The Crackdown on Anti-ICE Activists in Texas Reflects a Pattern of Intensifying Repression

Pay attention to the Prairieland case that goes to trial in Texas next week.

By saddling the defendants with indiscriminate charges, holding them without bail, and isolating them from lawyers and the public, prosecutors are attempting to terrorize them into signing guilty pleas in order to set a precedent criminalizing dissent itself.

Some of the defendants in the Prairieland case apparently never set foot anywhere near the protest in question. Just as authorities sought to crush the #StopCopCity movement by randomly indicting people on baseless charges, here they aim to scare people out of acting in solidarity with immigrants.

The murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti show what lies at the end of this road. In those public executions, there is no role for the judicial branch of government at all—the executive branch chooses the target, pulls the trigger, and declares the victims guilty of terrorism afterwards. That is the kind of "justice" that the Trump administration aims to carry out. If they get away with what they are trying to do to the Prairieland defendants, we will be a step closer to that.

An activist who has organized in Burma and Thailand across a period of decades discusses the various ways people have resisted even under a military coup.

Activists elsewhere in the world will find this instructive, as rule by brute force is becoming more and more widespread.

Just now, while testifying before the House of Representatives, commissioner of Customs and Border Protection Rodney Scott described anti-ICE protesters as "coordinated well-funded insurgencies" as he called for even more funding and legislation to enable ICE to violently repress US citizens.

Why haven't federal agents begun widespread crackdowns on US citizens? Donald Trump has already called clearly for these—for example, by declaring the nebulous category "antifa" to be "a major terrorist organization."

The answer is simple: federal agencies still have their hands full kidnapping and deporting immigrants. But as soon as they can, they will use the same infrastructure and tactics against US citizens. Fighting for immigrants is fighting to protect ourselves and each other.

Neither law enforcement nor Democrat politicians' hollow calls for minor reforms will protect us. Federal officials have already cast their lot with fascism. We, too, must understand that the only options before us are revolution or autocracy.

On December 18, 2025, police evicted the historic Askatasuna social center in Turin, which had been squatted since 1996. A call circulated for a demonstration in response on January 31.

Newspapers report that 50,000 people took the streets. In the street where Askatasuna was located, clashes with the police continued for several hours—an intensity of confrontation that is extraordinary in Italy today.

Something is changing in Italy. The pro-Palestinian movement that erupted in support of the flotillas that sailed for Gaza in fall 2025 drew millions of participants into the streets, including a new generation that had not previously participated in direct action. The events in Turin last month show that this momentum has not abated. While authoritarianism is gaining power all around the world, we are also seeing a rising desire to revolt.

On January 23, 2026, a general strike against the ICE occupation paralyzed the Twin Cities. Seven days later, a second strike took place, on January 30. The first of these mass strikes drew significantly more participants than the second.

In this analysis, participants in the resistance to ICE operations in the Twin Cities reflect on the lessons of these strikes, looking for ways to remove obstacles to the growth of the movement.

Democrats are seeking "reforms" like bodycams for federal agents (so they have more footage to make commercials promoting mercenary violence), marked ICE vehicles (so we can't pressure car rental agencies), stricter codes of conduct (while thousands of bounty hunters go on terrorizing us).

Even if the regime is forced to slow down a bit, their goal is full totalitarianism. Trump is implementing fascism as fast as we let him. By treating this as something to be "reformed," Democrats are complicit in normalizing it.

If, under Adolf Hitler, the Nazis had been compelled to behave themselves more politely while they rounded up and disappeared people, if they had been discouraged from murdering German gentiles as they carried out the Holocaust, would that have addressed the problem? No.

The Trump administration's efforts to criminalize opposition to fascism are taking effect overseas. Two banks are shutting down the accounts belonging to Rote Hilfe—a German legal aid organization over a century old—because of Trump designating so-called "Antifa Ost" as a "foreign terrorist organization." The designation has no equivalent in German law. It's based on a single case with extremely questionable evidence. The German government has not adopted the designation, repeatedly emphasizing that the purely legal construct "Antifa East" poses no significant threat. Although Assad has fallen, the tragedies in Syria continue. The Syrian National Army, a Turkish proxy force, has captured the city of Manbij and aims to storm Kobane next.

Turkey intends to conquer all Rojava and carry out ethnic cleansing there.

In 2014, with the tacit support of the Turkish government, the Islamic State took over most of northern Syria, carrying out massacres as they gained ground. In the town of Kobane, locals managed to halt their advance only a few miles from the Turkish border.

Now, Kobane is at risk once again.

In Rojava, multiethnic militias including anarchist volunteers from around the world did most of the fighting and dying in the struggle against the Islamic State. Now the international community is preparing to look away while they are massacred.

We must not let this happen. As in 2019—the last time Turkey mounted a major offensive against Rojava—solidarity actions are urgently needed.
